Here’s a collection of links we've found useful and informative. A good mixture of current affairs regarding tech, design, and relevant articles.
Reading list
- Netlife, and an old compadre of ours Svale, has released a pretty cool tool called “Designmaskinen”. With it, any employee at Nasjonalmuseet can produce graphic material in line with the visual identity without any prerecuisite knowledge of the identity or design in general. Kudos! It’s a good example of how digital tools should be in this day and age, and we bet it’s a pretty good business case too.
Design of the weeks
- The “None” checkbox option, by appointment to her Majesty the Queen, is making a strong comeback in this solid case by the UK government. A good UX read on the why’s and how’s.
Tech of the week
- Apple says it’s going to open up for self repair, supplying the layman with manuals, tools and parts. Now, we're eager like a dog waiting for it's owner to give a signal of go-ahead to leap forward, and we think we’ve heard the whistle. But we’re not sure, and are kind of waiting second confirmation.
- PageSpeed provides a very insightful piece on the metrics behind scoring web pages.
- Grammarly, just found some more money, and are making they’re service available through nifty integrations in both Windows and Mac.
- Browserflow is a handy Chrome extension that allows you to automate repetative tasks online. Like grabbing some copy etc.
- Shopify recently launched Hydrogen, a React framework for creating custom front ends. This marks the end of the old theme based methodology. This is pretty huge for us, and makes Shopify an even stronger candidate for a multitude of e-commerce projects in our pipeline.
