Tech of the week
Oh, Sonos. Long story short, they released a completely redesigned app and everyone hated it so much that there was serious debates about just rolling back to the old app. The CEO admitted the mistake, offered a public letter of apology, promising that the top priority was to make the app better. The unusual part is how public this whole thing is, contrasting how public relations in big tech usually works. The latest attempt at rebuilding trust is this public Trello board listing the fixes that are under way.
Automattic is migrating Tumblr to WP, for unknown reasons other than obvious incentives in owning both platforms. It is likely one of the largest technical migrations in internet history. Here's the statement.
Laravel Cloud promises to be the future of shipping, so make sure you sign up for the waitlist to enter the future a little sooner than everyone else. Which semantically makes the whole thing less futuristic. And we love semantics in the tech section of this little blog of ours. And we don't backspace, apologies for that.
